Facelift & Facial Rejuvenation – St. Louis
Dr. Michele Koo, MD, FACS, board certified plastic surgeon believes in a subtle and refined approach to facial cosmetic surgery. Dr. Koo uses a number of advanced techniques to deliver a youthful and yet un-altered appearance. Often combining a facelift with facial fillers and skin treatments.
I apply my facial contouring philosophy of less is more to my delicate, precise techniques when creating a rested rejuvenated look for your face and neck. I have advanced my unique approach to the neck and jawline, addressing the jowl areas and nasolabial folds with a tailored neck lift that can often be performed in the office under local anesthesia. Since the neck is often the first area showing signs of aging, my neck lift procedure will address the aging of the neck and jowl creating a smooth and refreshed appearance.
I will enhance your facial rejuvenation with skin products and facial fillers such as JUVÉDERM® and RESTYLANE®. I also use my entire armamentarium of skills, including BOTOX® Cosmetic and her FRAXEL® repair laser to smooth out your wrinkles and deep creases, creating the overall complete look of a spa vacation that will keep your friends guessing.

Facelift Procedure
Over time, signs of aging can appear on the face due to gravity, sun exposure, or even the natural stresses of life. My facelift procedure is designed to restore a more youthful appearance to the face, giving patients a revitalized and rested appearance. A facelift is designed to reduce the visible effects of aging in the face and neck. The most common signs of aging I can treat with a facelift include:
- Sagging in the mid-face
- Deep creases that may form blow the eyelids
- Deep creases along the nose that may extend to the corner of the mouth
- Fat pockets that have descended or have become displaced
- Jowls created by a loss of muscle tone in the lower face
- Loose skin and fat deposits that may exist under the chin and jaw
About the Facelift Procedure
I usually perform facelifts on people in their 40s-60s; however, people in their 70s or 80s can have facelifts as well. During our consultation, if I may suggest a combination of the facelift with with other procedures (browlift, eyelid surgery, nose reshaping) for more dramatic results, or it can be restricted to the neck (necklift) if the your problems center there.
I begin a facelift with an incision made behind the hairline, which will reduce any visible scarring that may result from the incision. Once the incision is made, I remove excess fat and tissue and reposition the skin to create the desired contour to the face. I gently sculpts and tighten the underlying tissue to create an aesthetically balanced and long-lasting result. After the patient’s desired contour is achieved and I have repaired the underlying muscles and tissue, I re-drape skin over the face. It is at this point that any excess skin will be removed to restore a more youthful skin elasticity, ensuring long-lasting results.
Facelift Results
The final results will restore a more youthful and rested result as well as improve your self-esteem. I find it important to note that a facelift, when done correctly, will not alter the fundamental appearance of your face, but rather deliver a firm and youthful appearance.
Facial Rejuvenation – St. Louis
With the use of lasers I am able to treat a variety of skin problems. These lasers are often specialized to treat a specific type of problem; however, there is no “cure-all” for correcting all problems.
Water or dark pigments in the body’s tissue (melanin in the skin and hemoglobin in the blood) absorb laser light and covert it to heat. This procedure can reduce the signs of aging, age spots, freckles, scarring, enlarged pores, vascular lesions (spider veins), and rosacea. I will work with you to develop the best laser treatment for your individual skin condition.
Laser offer “bloodless” surgery, a greatly reduced risk of infection, quick procedures, and improved recovery time.
